Resumen:
The aim of this presentation is to discuss the most relevant results obtained in our group regarding the design, characterization and analytical applications of electrochemical (bio)sensors devoted to the sensitive and selective quantification of biomarkers based on the use of biomolecules like enzymes, DNA and aptamers; and new nanomaterials such as nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes and graphene.Special attention will be given to the critical selection of the dispersing agents for different carbon nanotubes, not only to disperse them but also, an even more important, to give them biorecognition, preconcentration, or electrical properties that make possible the highly sensitive and selective sensing of important bioanalytes. The advantages of the incorporation of graphene in the electrochemical sensors for the quantification of biomarkers will be also discussed. The resulting (bio)sensors demonstrate that the judicious and intimate coupling of a suitable (bio)molecule and electrochemical transducers efficiently modified with nanomaterials makes possible the highly successful conversion of the selective (bio)recognition event into a useful electrical signal, and opens the doors to the development of highly sensitive and selective bioanalytical devices.
